The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has opened a new service center in the Masaki area of Dar es Salaam. The center falls under the Kinondoni Tax Region and aims to bring services closer to citizens and simplify tax payments.
While inaugurating the center on February 17, 2026, TRA Commissioner General Mr. Yusuph Juma Mwenda said the opening of the center is due to Masaki being a strategic business area. It will enable all eligible taxpayers in the area to pay the taxes they owe.
He added that the opening of the center is part of TRA’s strategy to bring services closer to the public and broaden the tax base, which could potentially lead to lower tax rates in the future if the number of taxpayers increases.
“We have the intention of seeing tax rates decrease, but they cannot decrease without expanding the tax base. Therefore, we must ensure that everyone who is required to pay tax does so according to their income and in accordance with the law,” said Mwenda.
He further noted that TRA will establish strategic tax service centers in all areas with high business activity to facilitate business operations, encourage voluntary tax compliance, and bring tax services closer to citizens. He also directed that each region should have such centers.
Speaking about the center, Kinondoni Tax Region Manager Mr. Azizi Soka said it is expected to serve more than 6,790 taxpayers from Masaki, Msasani, Oysterbay, Bonde la Mpunga, and nearby areas, where all TRA services will be available.
