08 July, 2026
Leaders and staff of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) observed a one-minute standing ovation during the Authority’s 2025/2026 financial year performance review meeting to honour and express their sincere appreciation to taxpayers across the country for their continued commitment to voluntary tax compliance.
The gesture took place in Arusha on July 6, 2026, during a meeting held at the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC), which was also attended by invited taxpayers following an invitation from TRA Commissioner General, Mr. Yusuph Juma Mwenda. Speaking during the event, Mr. Mwenda emphasized that taxpayers remain the foundation of the Authority’s achievements, noting that the progress recorded by TRA would not have been possible without their unwavering support.
“We recognize and deeply appreciate the invaluable contribution of our taxpayers. Your commitment has enabled TRA to achieve remarkable milestones. Without you, we would not be celebrating these achievements today. That is why we chose to honour you with a one-minute standing ovation,” said Mr. Mwenda.
The Commissioner General further stated that TRA’s 30-year journey cannot be told without acknowledging the vital role played by the business community and taxpayers across the country. He reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to continuously improving tax services and strengthening partnerships that promote voluntary tax compliance.
Mr. Mwenda also noted that the performance review meeting would focus on implementing directives issued by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, during the 30th Anniversary celebrations of TRA. He highlighted the President’s remarks on the significant growth in tax revenue collections, which have increased from TZS 21 trillion annually when she assumed office to TZS 37.96 trillion today, underscoring the positive impact of ongoing tax administration reforms and enhanced voluntary compliance.
